The Softening Hours

I painted this on a summer's day when Seattle's Alaskan Way viaduct was still coming down. Noticing that fluctuating light and temperatures can change the mood of a place -- and also intrigued by Australian artists who were using bright colors -- the warmth of pink and yellow made their way into this abstract scene.
